A practical FAQ on the Opanchu Usagi Friends Series: case contents, figure size, age rating, and how to decide if this Bandai Namco set fits your shelf.
Quick answer
The Opanchu Usagi Friends Series is a Bandai Namco set of eight small PVC/ABS figures, each about 2.75 inches tall, sold as blind boxes. Buy a whole case if you want the complete set in one go; buy single boxes only if duplicates and surprise are part of the fun.
The eight styles are all Opanchu Usagi, not a mixed-character lineup
Despite the word Friends in the name, the listed lineup is eight variations of Opanchu Usagi herself: crying, lunch, overheated, eh?, suntan, that one?, I like ducks ..., and look... There is no second character in the set. That matters if you are buying for someone who expects a group of different friends rather than one character in different moods.
If you want variety across characters, this is not that set. If you like the running joke of Opanchu Usagi's expressions, the eight poses give you a small themed display instead of eight unrelated figures.
The 15+ age rating is a handling decision, not just a label
The set is marked 15+, which is unusual for a cute character figure and worth respecting. Small PVC/ABS figures at this scale can have fine paint details and thin parts, and the boxes are not designed as toddler toys. Keep them out of reach of young children and treat them as collectibles rather than play figures.
Opanchu Usagi Friends Series: reader questions answered
- Does a full case guarantee all eight styles?
- The catalog states that a whole case includes a complete set of eight characters and that duplicate characters are possible. Treat a case as the way to get the full lineup, but do not assume every figure inside will be different. If you are chasing one specific expression, a case is still the safer buy than a single box. Check the case wording before buying if you only need one particular style.
- How big are the figures, really?
- About 2.75 inches tall. That is roughly the height of a standard keychain charm, so these read as small shelf accents rather than centerpiece statues. A single shallow shelf or a row on a desk is enough space for all eight. Measure your display spot in inches before ordering a case.
- Is this a good first Opanchu Usagi collectible?
- Yes, if you want a low-commitment entry point. The set is small, the individual price is low, and the eight expressions give you a clear theme. It is less suitable if you want large figures or a mixed-character lineup, because the set is one character in eight moods. Decide whether you want one character's expressions or several characters before choosing this set.
- What should I check when the box arrives?
- Confirm the box is sealed and the Bandai Namco branding matches the listing, then inspect each figure for paint scuffs and loose parts before displaying. Because the figures are small PVC/ABS, store the boxes flat if you keep them, and avoid direct sun on the painted faces. Unbox over a tray so small parts do not roll away.
